The island of Terschelling. Dr. Koop spent part of every summer, while growing up, on this island off the northwest coast of the Netherlands (www.terschelling.net/). It is composed of fishing villages, farmland, forests, dunes and beaches. There are many bicycle and hiking paths covering the island to allow for a very close look.
